(PADUCAH, Ky.) — A 55-year-old Paducah man is facing multiple drug trafficking charges following a search warrant execution at his residence and his subsequent arrest during a traffic stop, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
Charles Hammonds of North 5th Street was taken into custody Saturday, November 1, after Deputy Gary Coylar conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 60 West. Hammonds, who had an outstanding warrant, was found inside the vehicle and arrested without incident.
The arrest stems from an October 22 search warrant executed by McCracken County Sheriff’s Office detectives at Hammonds’ residence at 404 North 5th Street. Hammonds was not home when detectives arrived to serve the warrant.
During the search, investigators reportedly discovered multiple controlled substances including methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, Suboxone, and methadone. Detectives also recovered digital scales, smoking pipes, and various drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.
Following the search, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Hammonds, leading to his apprehension over a week later during the highway traffic stop.
Hammonds was transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail, where he was lodged on six charges: trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in marijuana, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methadone), second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (Suboxone), possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
As with all arrests, Hammonds is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
