
(LYON COUNTY, Ky.) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has released details of several incidents that occurred over the past week, including a deer-related vehicle collision, a burglary arrest, and an ongoing assault investigation.
Deer Strike Leaves Vehicle Inoperable
Sheriff Brent White responded to a single-vehicle collision on KY 93 South near Titus Road on Sunday, November 9, at approximately 1:35 p.m. According to the sheriff’s investigation, Tara S. Russell, 48, of Hopkinsville, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox southbound when she struck a deer in the roadway. The collision left the vehicle inoperable, but Russell and her two passengers escaped injury. Deputy Scott Wathen and the Eddyville Police Department provided assistance at the scene.
Criminal Summons Served
On Wednesday, November 12, at 8:30 a.m., Sheriff White served a criminal summons from Crittenden District Court on Dee Anna Kinnis, 57, of Marion. Kinnis faces a November court date for a local ordinance violation.
Burglary Suspect Arrested After Video Evidence
Deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a closed business on Lakeshore Drive in Kuttawa on Thursday, November 13, around 11:40 a.m. While no suspects were found at the scene initially, investigators later identified a suspect through video surveillance footage. Chief Deputy Sam Adams located the suspect, who admitted to stealing items from the property. Dwight “Dee” S. Smith, 57, of Princeton, was charged with criminal trespassing and theft by unlawful taking.
Search Continues for Assault Suspect
Deputies are searching for a Hopkinsville woman following a Saturday afternoon disturbance on Lake Barkley Drive in Kuttawa. According to investigators, two women were involved in a physical altercation around 1:52 p.m. on November 15. One woman, reportedly intoxicated, fled before deputies arrived. The injured victim declined medical treatment from Lyon County EMS. Authorities have identified Katharine R. Stacy, 38, of Hopkinsville, as the suspect who allegedly assaulted the victim. Deputy Josh Travis is continuing the investigation.
Bench Warrant Arrest
Also on November 15, around 4:45 p.m., deputies arrested Mae N. Frazier, 51, of Kuttawa, at a residence on KY 810 South. Frazier was wanted on a Fayette District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in a receiving stolen property case. She posted bond and was released from custody.
Mental Health Crisis Response
Deputies responded to a disturbance complaint on Days Inn Drive in Kuttawa on Saturday evening at approximately 5:42 p.m. The incident began as a disturbance between family members traveling on I-24, which led to a female passenger exiting the vehicle and walking to a Kuttawa business for help. Deputies determined the woman was experiencing a mental health crisis and transported her to an area hospital for treatment. No criminal charges are expected in connection with this incident.
