(PADUCAH, Ky.) — West Kentucky Community and Technical College has been awarded a $3,000 grant from Swipe Out Hunger to strengthen its Campus Cupboard food pantry program and improve support for students facing food insecurity.

The grant will fund the purchase and implementation of a food pantry management system designed to streamline Campus Cupboard operations. The new system will replace manual processes such as shelf checks and paper logs with automated tools for inventory tracking, client intake, visit scheduling, and reporting.

Key features of the management system include privacy protections for students and improved pantry accessibility and confidentiality. The technology is also expected to reduce food waste and enhance resource allocation.

“Food insecurity can be a barrier to student success,” said Chase Durrance, Dean of Students. “This grant will allow us to provide a more efficient, student-centered pantry experience.”

Swipe Out Hunger is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing college student hunger and supporting campus-based food security initiatives.
