(LYON COUNTY, Ky.) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has reported a series of arrests spanning from December 1-5, 2025, involving charges ranging from drug trafficking to false police reports.

The arrests began Monday, December 1, when Sheriff Brent White took James D. Hughes, 50, of Princeton into custody at 9 a.m. Hughes was served with a Marshall County Circuit Court indictment warrant for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first offense. He was transported to the Marshall County Detention Center.

Thirty minutes later, White arrested Bryan J. Dennis, 37, of Missouri, charging him as a fugitive from justice. Dennis was wanted by St. Louis County, Missouri authorities for felony obstruction and was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 2, deputies responded to a 911 call that ultimately proved false. At 3:47 a.m., Kentucky State Police dispatch received a call from a resident on McKinney Road off KY 819. Deputies Bobby Beeler and Sam Adams arrived to find Rickie A. McKinney, 62, of Hopkinsville, who appeared heavily intoxicated. McKinney claimed multiple people on the property were attempting to kill him, but investigators found no other individuals present. Deputy Beeler arrested McKinney on charges of filing a false report to law enforcement, and he was taken to the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Later that day, Deputy Lori Francis served a Boyd District Court bench warrant on Kimberly D. Moore, 33, of Flatwoods, for failure to appear on a contempt charge. Moore is awaiting extradition to Boyd County.

On Wednesday, December 3, Deputy Josh Travis served a Whitley Circuit Court bench warrant on Milton A. Harris, 64, of Corbin, for non-payment of court costs, fees and fines. Harris is awaiting extradition to Whitley County.

The following evening, Deputy Travis arrested Caleb M. Wellborn, 30, of Eddyville, at a residence on KY 293 in Saratoga. Wellborn was served with a Lyon District Court bench warrant for contempt of court in a child support case and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

The week concluded Friday night with multiple arrests during a traffic safety checkpoint. Deputies Beeler and Travis were assisting Kentucky State Police on US 62 when they stopped a 2019 Dodge Charger around 9:16 p.m. The driver, Patience L. Stephens, 27, of Paducah, was arrested by Deputy Beeler on charges of operating on a suspended or revoked license and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. Records showed Stephens had previously failed to answer a traffic-related court summons. A passenger in the vehicle, Christopher D. Burgess, 28, of Paducah, was charged by Deputy Travis with possession of marijuana.
