(BRIENSBURG, Ky.) — Christian Fellowship School Senior Elijah Grigg etched his name into Kentucky high school basketball history Friday night, breaking the Region One all-time scoring record despite his team’s 69-60 loss to Murray High.
The senior guard poured in 28 points against the Tigers, pushing his career total to 2,729 points and surpassing the previous record of 2,722 set by Ballard Memorial’s Jace Birney just last season.
The milestone came at home in a Fourth District doubleheader, providing a memorable moment for Eagles fans even as Murray (12-2) extended its strong season with the road victory.
The Eagles falls to 10-5 on the year and will look to bounce back Monday when they travel to face Ballard Memorial (3-13) at the Green Palace in LaCenter.
In last night’s girl’s game, Murray High (3-10) earned a 62-37 victory over the Lady Eagles (6-11). The Lady Eagles will travel to play Carlisle County (10-3) on Tuesday.
