(MURRAY, Ky.) — The Marshall County Lady Marshals’ season came to a close Tuesday, falling 41-35 to McCracken County in a hard-fought Region 1 tournament matchup to finish the year 21-6.

Free throws proved costly for Marshall County, which converted just 5-of-16 attempts from the charity stripe. Despite holding a lead at the end of each quarter, the Lady Marshals could not withstand a relentless fourth-quarter surge from McCracken County.

Head Coach Aaron Beth said, “We played hard, and I was happy with our defensive effort.  We just couldn’t score the ball like we wanted to. It was really tough to see us not be able to connect from the line.” He added, “I couldn’t be prouder to have had the opportunity to coach this team. These young ladies have been such a pleasure to coach, and I hurt for them tonight.”

Eden Sandlin led the Lady Marshals with 11 points, while Kenzlee Terry added 9, Addi Wall contributed 8, Jessica Reed chipped in 4, and Rylee Teague rounded out the scoring with 3. The Lady Mustangs (25-8) closed the game on a dominant 20-9 run in the final period to overturn the deficit and secure the victory.

With the win, McCracken County advances to the Semifinals on Friday night, where they are scheduled to tip off at 7:45 p.m.
