(MAYFIELD, Ky.) — A western Kentucky law enforcement officer has been recognized statewide for his years of work protecting children and partnering with local advocacy organizations.
Kentucky State Police Post 1 Lieutenant David Dick received the “Legendary Partner” award from Children’s Advocacy Centers of Kentucky at a banquet last week, one of the organization’s highest annual honors for individuals who show exceptional commitment to protecting children.
Dick was nominated by Lotus, the regional children’s advocacy and sexual violence resource center serving the Purchase Area. In its nomination, Lotus praised Dick — a KSP member since 2011 — for his consistent collaboration with the organization on cases involving children and families in crisis.
“Throughout his career, he has worked closely with Lotus on numerous cases as an investigator, playing a vital role in supporting children and families during some of their most difficult moments,” Lotus staff wrote in the nomination.
The organization specifically highlighted Dick’s role in 2023, when he helped launch the Multidisciplinary Team Enhancement Project — an effort aimed at improving communication and collaboration across law enforcement and advocacy agencies. His involvement, Lotus said, helped lay the groundwork for the project’s long-term success.
Post 1 Commander Captain Joey Adams echoed that praise.
“KSP Post 1 is honored to have David serve as our Investigative Lieutenant,” Adams said. “Lt. Dick collaborates closely with Lotus, strengthening investigative efforts to bring justice for victims of sexual violence and to advocate for children.”
Lotus, which serves survivors of sexual violence and child abuse across the Jackson Purchase region, presents the Legendary Partner designation each year to individuals whose dedication extends beyond their professional duties.
