(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.) — A Marshall County High School student has been selected for one of Kentucky’s most competitive academic honors.
Luke Dougherty has been accepted into the Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE), a prestigious three-week summer program that accepts fewer than 150 students statewide each year.
The program is designed to cultivate the next generation of Kentucky business leaders by providing students with entrepreneurial skills, scholarship opportunities, and professional networking connections. Officials describe it as a transformative experience aimed at shaping the state’s economy and culture by empowering young innovators.
“GSE empowers the dreams of Kentucky students who have the grit, drive, and passion to be Bluegrass entrepreneurs and create jobs here,” according to program materials.
Kentucky was among the first states in the nation to launch a Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs when the program launched in 2013. Since then, it has served more than 1,500 students through its high school and collegiate offerings.
