(BENTON, Ky.) — The Marshall County Fiscal Court will hold its regular meeting Tuesday, April 21, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The meeting opens with a guest segment that is expected to draw public interest. The Marshall County Boys Basketball Team is scheduled to appear before the court, to be recognized for their recent success. Steven Luther, CEO of Marshall County Hospital, is also on the guest list. The DeFew Family has also been invited to attend. Recently, the family restored the vandalized standing soldiers that guard the Soldier’s Memorial at the entrance to Mike Miller Park.

On the old business front, magistrates will be asked to approve the minutes from the April 7th meeting and revisit the matter of the county coroner’s salary, an item that has carried over from previous discussions.

New business makes up the bulk of the agenda. The court will take up a Federal Lands Access Program grant related to Happy Hollow, as well as two workplace safety items — a Hazardous Communication Plan and a Bloodborne Pathogen Program, both developed jointly between the fiscal court and the sheriff’s office.

Also on the agenda is a contract tied to a Community Development Block Grant housing initiative, a review of surplus property, and approval of new hires. The court will also consider a renewal of banking services with the county’s current financial institution.

In a budget matter, magistrates will conduct the first reading of Ordinance 2026-03, a budget amendment. The court will also discuss rescheduling an upcoming fiscal court meeting and setting a date for a public hearing.

Routine financial business includes the treasurer’s report, fund transfers, and payment of bills. The meeting is expected to close with an executive session covering litigation and personnel matters before adjourning.

The meeting will be held at the Marshall County Courthouse.
