(CALVERT CITY, Ky)-North Marshall Middle School’s 7th-grade Beta Club officers—Macy Bishop, Halle Joyce, Sloan Veazey, and Miriam Hart—have spent the year leading Backpack Buddies, a student-led service project dedicated to making sure no child is left empty-handed.
The project began last October with members creating over 50 Hope Bracelets, each featuring an inspiring note, to celebrate Beta’s Founder’s Day. Betas also organized a school-wide Hygiene Drive, collecting more than 2,000 essential items, and hosted a Kona Ice fundraiser to raise money for comfort items to include in the backpacks.
In March, Beta members stayed after school to assemble backpacks filled with hygiene and comfort items.
The students successfully donated over 50 backpacks to CASA by the Lakes, supporting local foster children in western Kentucky. The remaining items were given to the Youth Service Center to assist NMMS students in need.
Through their leadership, creativity, and compassion, North Marshall Middle School’s Beta Club officers have made a meaningful impact on their community.
