Suspect Dies After Firing at Deputies During High-Speed Chase in Lone Oak

(LONE OAK, Ky.) — A vehicle pursuit ended in tragedy Friday night when a suspect who allegedly fired multiple rounds at law enforcement officers crashed into a house and later died at a local hospital.

The incident began around 8:00 p.m. on November 7 when McCracken County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a vehicle pursuit in the Lone Oak area. According to Sheriff Ryan Norman, the suspect fired at deputies on several occasions during the chase, with multiple rounds striking deputies’ vehicles.

The pursuit came to an end in the 200 block of Lone Oak Road when the suspect’s vehicle collided with a house. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.

No deputies were injured during the incident despite their vehicles being struck by gunfire. The occupants of the home that was struck were also unharmed.

“I am proud of the deputies’ calm and professional demeanor throughout this incident,” Sheriff Norman said in a statement. “They did a great job and performed exactly how I would want them to during this incident.”

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Kentucky State Police investigate the incident and said it will not release additional information at this time.

The sheriff’s office thanked the Paducah Police Department for assisting at the scene and responding to other calls for service during the incident.
