
(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) — The Calvert City Police Department has reported two separate incidents resulting in arrests over the past two weeks.
In the first incident, on April 2, an officer on routine patrol through the Marshall Yards parking lot discovered a woman lying on the ground. Upon making contact with her, authorities determined she was publicly intoxicated. Abbigayle Dawn Matthews, 28, of Marion, was taken into custody and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.
Six days later, on April 8, an officer traveling along East 5th Avenue detected the smell of marijuana emanating from a passing vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Two occupants were charged as a result. Dwight Glenn Hicks, 72, of Calvert City, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger in the vehicle, Jessica Charlene Stanley, 47, of Benton, was charged with possession of marijuana.
No additional details regarding the incidents were immediately available. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
