According to an update from the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), Department of Corrections Probation and Parole officers responded that morning to 2821 Marquess Drive, Apartment 1, to conduct a home visit on mandatory re-entry offender Brandon Reed, who had listed the address as his residence on probation and parole paperwork.

During the visit, Rayshawn Tucker, 22, of Paducah, exited the rear of the residence and attacked one of the officers with an edged weapon. Two probation and parole officers discharged their firearms, striking Tucker. He was transported to Baptist Health Paducah, where he was later pronounced deceased. Two officers were treated at nearby hospitals and released. No other officers were injured.
