Inmate Stabs Prison Lieutenant at Kentucky State Penitentiary

(EDDYVILLE, Ky.)A Kentucky State Penitentiary lieutenant was stabbed by an inmate last week, according to Kentucky State Police, who are now investigating the assault.

The attack occurred Friday afternoon, April 2, when KSP Post 1 received a call at 4:58 p.m. CDT reporting that an inmate had stabbed a lieutenant and that the victim was being transported to a nearby hospital. Troopers and detectives responded to both the penitentiary and the hospital.

Investigators identified the suspect as Sean Noakes, 57, of Florence, Ky., who allegedly stabbed Lieutenant Zabulon Pierre with a sharp object. Lieutenant Pierre was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

Noakes is serving time at the penitentiary following a murder conviction out of Boone County. His history behind bars includes three additional felony assault convictions for incidents that occurred at the Kentucky State Penitentiary.

The case remains under investigation and is expected to be presented to the Lyon County Grand Jury.
